泰国创意设计中心（Thailand Creative and Design Center，TCDC）是泰国创意经济局（Creative Economy Agency，CEA）下属的一个机构，其使命是激发社会创造性思维，推动泰国创意经济的发展。21 世纪初，泰国创意设计中心怀着远大的愿景，不仅要在曼谷创造更多的创意空间，还要将此社会影响扩展到整个泰国。

The Thailand Creative and Design Center (TCDC) is an agency under the Creative Economy Agency (CEA) with a mission to inspire creative thinking in society and propel Thailand's creative economy. At the beginning of the 21st century, TCDC, with a strong vision, aimed to create more creative spaces not just in Bangkok but also to extend this social impact across the entire country.

素林（Surin）是泰国的一个传奇省份，它不仅作为泰国大象的故乡而闻名，其自然地景中的帕侬萨瓦森林公园（Phanom Sawai Forest Park）更是众所皆知。除此之外当地人受自然环境的启发，本地丝绸编织也是该省份独特的文化遗产，这些元素使素林成为最令人印象深刻的文化目的地，同时也提升了泰国的文化多样性。

Surin, a legendary province of Thailand, is renowned not only as the hometown of Thai elephants but also for the expansive Phanom Sawai Forest Park. Additionally, local silk weaving, inspired by the natural surroundings, is a significant cultural heritage of the region. These unique elements have established Surin as one of the most impressive cultural destinations, elevating Thailand's symbolism and addressing social issues from a different perspective.

新的泰国创意设计中心素林（Thailand Creative and Design Center Surin，TCDC Surin）选址于当地大型体育场，该建筑在过去用于举办当地活动，同时其地点靠近素林机场和Wat Buraparam寺庙。藉由该项目独特的地理位置和文化背景，HAS design and research建筑事务所主持建筑师Jenchieh Hung与Kulthida Songkittipakdee 提出一种颠覆传统设计思维，将旧有的体育场转化成泰国创意设计中心素林的新文化地标。

The new Thailand Creative and Design Center Surin (TCDC Surin) is located in the old stadium, a large arena previously used for local events and activities. The site is also close to the airport and Wat Buraparam temple. With this unique location and background, HAS Design and Research founders and architects Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee proposed a transformative approach to convert the old stadium into a new cultural symbol for TCDC Surin.

泰国创意设计中心素林在平日时刻，被数百块当地松木板覆盖，Hung And Songkittipakdee（HAS）在这些面板上设计两种不同的表面纹理：一侧采用白灰色纹理，像是当地泰国象群在泥土中玩耍的自然色，而另一侧则展示当地丝绸织物纹理，带给访客一种织物覆盖在体育场上的崭新感觉，从而为泰国创意设计中心素林创造了新的文化象征。在特殊时刻，立面上采用的当地松木板也可作为活动展示、电影广告和展览海报，替该建筑创造一个室内外紧密联系的互动关。在进入内部空间之前，当地居民与游客还可以享受建筑前方的丝绸剧院活动广场，透过旧有大型体育场转化成露天剧院的城市开放空间。

During the weekdays, Hung And Songkittipakdee (HAS) designed the new TCDC Surin to be covered by hundreds of local pine wood panels. These panels provide two distinct surface textures: one side features a white-gray texture painting that symbolizes Thai elephants playing in the soil mud, while the other side showcases a silk-fabric texture painting, giving the appearance of textiles draped over the stadium, thus creating a new image for TCDC Surin. On the weekends, these local pine wood panels can display exhibition posters and movie advertisements, connecting outdoor and indoor events. Before entering the interior space, residents and visitors can also enjoy the Silk Event Plaza, watching movies in an open-air theater setting in front of TCDC Surin.

室内空间由两个主要功能组成。一个是丝绸实验室，由数千条当地松木条以横向拼凑组合，并形成令人印象深刻的倾斜墙面，而倾斜墙体也替空间带来面料展示、丝绸研发、器具展览等创新的实验室空间。另一个功能是共享设计创作区，该空间由数百块当地松木板以竖向排列组合，不仅替场所本身带来特有的仪式感与精神性，其松木板也用作书籍放置、丝绸展示、艺术工作坊和展览发布等功能，而在空间上方裸露的顶面显示了粗糙的体育场结构，其粗糙的混凝土和阶梯状的顶板元素，唤起游客在细致与粗糙之间的怀旧感。

The interior space is defined by two main functions. One is the Silk Lab, composed of thousands of local pine wood strips that form an impressive slanted wall. This wall provides a laboratory space for research, exhibition, storage, and innovation related to local silk and traditional fabric. The other function is the Co-Creation area, made from hundreds of local pine wood panels that can serve as bookshelves, silk displays, workshop areas, and exhibition spaces. The exposed ceiling reveals the existing stadium structure, featuring rough concrete and stepped ceiling elements, which evoke a sense of nostalgia for visitors.

泰国创意设计中心素林的设计不仅是旧体育场的翻新与改造。在此项目中，建筑师Jenchieh Hung和Kulthida Songkittipakdee使用了当地特有的木材，隐喻当地对于自然材料的重视，更代表这些自然资源滋养了泰国大象和丝绸面料等独特背景。此外，在泰国创意设计中心素林立面两侧所采用的木板，也透过设计让访客感受到有如象群躺在体育场前方休憩，为当地居民、游客、学生营造出一个放松且富有创意的空间，通过交流、活动、艺术、设计与创意来启发崭新的未来生活。

The design of TCDC Surin is not just a renovation project for the old Surin stadium. In this project, architects Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee utilized local pine wood panels that metaphorically represent the unique natural resources that nourish both Thai elephants and silk-fabric craftsmanship. The two sides of the panels on the façade of TCDC Surin also simulate local elephants lying on the ground, creating a relaxing and creative space for visitors, students, and inhabitants to imagine a new future by bringing a gathering space.
