CONTEXT
The houses are located in a closed neighborhood in the town of Tristán Suarez. On the same 800m2 plot, two brothers decide to build two identical weekend houses that share a single garden.
LINKS
Determining the construction of the perimeter of the house within the limits established in the neighborhood regulations, we seek to maximize the surfaces to be built, which determined the morphology of the house in a perfect two-level cube. The lower floors house public uses, while the upper floors house the bedrooms. The houses in the interior had to mediate between a very public dimension and a more intimate one, allowing various gathering activities in the public space. Therefore, we decided to bring the entire service program to the edge. Within this emptied mass are the kitchen, vertical circulations, bathrooms, closets and an interior balcony. The income to the houses is given independently through the private patios that are accessed from the side and sheltered. Visually separated from the public thoroughfare by the concrete perimeter wall, they function as bellows spaces between the exterior space and the interior of the homes.
ICONO
The construction is presented as a single perforated exposed concrete cube that contains the different programs without making any apparent distinction. These perforations direct and at the same time control the visuals of the surrounding environment in a search for intimacy in the private life of the house. This prism dematerializes in the wall that faces the back, the only face that appears before a free green area, corresponding to the private garden and a landscaped strip that functions as a closure of the neighborhood. Towards the front, the wall encloses the access patios, thus conforming living rooms between two exterior spaces, gallery, garden and patio.
SUBJECT
Exposed concrete is presented as the only material that resolves walls, floors and ceilings. The structure of partitions and reinforced concrete slabs does not show exposed columns. The furniture and coverings are made of wood, the openings are made of aluminum and iron.
RESEARCH
The house is located on the premises in search of conquering a certain interior introspection and minimizing its external presence. In this way, the house minimized construction resources, using practically a single material and trying to erase evidence of the internal living that happens there. It seemed fundamental to us to achieve this intimate world without thereby losing an absolute relationship with nature and the use of outer space, for which we decided to pierce the structure establishing a series of variations that respond to the search for diverse relationships with the environment. In turn, it contains two patios open to the sky, clearings that help to control the density of the plant and make the public area of the house a space flanked between two exterior spaces, the patios that function as access and the garden that is discovered towards the background of the property.
