Located on an exposed site in an Alpine Region, Central Otago New Zealand, this home required meticulous consideration to the planning and spacial arrangement. The outlook and mountain views are captivating & the building is sited in such a way to embrace the environment.

规划由一个低矮的入口来划分生活区和卧室。起居区被有意识地朝向南北方向，以保护户外区域免受盛行风的影响，同时提供了一个从厨房和餐厅到整个场地的广阔连接。起居区的设置是为了在开放式的生活安排中提供一种更亲密的感觉。

The plan is divided by a low entry that separates the living areas from bedrooms. The living area has consciously been oriented north south to protect outdoor areas from prevailing winds, whilst offering an expansive connection across the entire site from the kitchen and dining area. The living area is set down to offer a more intimate feeling within an open plan living arrangement.

设计要求布局具有适应性和灵活性，可以在不影响主住宅日常操作的情况下租出一到两间卧室。然而，当整个住宅被使用时，需要避免一种分隔或分离的感觉，这是通过放置全高度滑动门和考虑外部通道来实现的。

The brief required the layout to be adaptable & have flexibility to lease one or two of the bedrooms without impacting the daily operation of the main home. Yet when the entire house is being used a feeling of compartmentalization or separation needed to be avoid and this is achieved by placement of full height sliding doors and consideration of external access.

建筑形式明显地借鉴了奥塔哥中部的乡土风格，并没有不必要地掩盖这一点，为住宅带来直接、和谐、谦逊的感觉。

The building form takes obvious cues from Central Otago vernacular and does not conceal this unnecessarily, contributing to a home that feels honest and harmoniously humble.

木材是主要的外部建筑材料，内部饰面有纹理，坚固耐用，主要由胶合板、混凝土和木材组成。业主最初的设想是将其作为一个度假屋，并希望捕捉简单的元素。

Timber is the predominant external building material and internal finishes are textured, robust & durable consisting of predominantly of plywood, concrete & timber. The owners original vision was for this to be a holiday home & wanted to capture an element of simplicity that genuine cribs scattered around the Wanaka township offer.
