The contextual problematic gave rise to an architectural reflection on the inscription of the project in this marsh landscape where water and nature dominate along a promenade. Maison H fits into this site by bringing a contemporary architectural language where concrete and glass dominate.
In terms of construction, the idea for this house made of traditional concrete was to take advantage of the landscape qualities of the site: a vast plot of land sloping down towards the Marne where large trees such as lime trees, elder trees and spruces are planted.
The layout of the house preserves these existing trees. As a reminder of their presence, a surface inlay of concrete encased in tree leaves has been made on the outside walls. In addition, the building takes advantage of the natural slope of the land by changing the interior spaces at various heights.
The "H" plan of the project is composed of two almost parallel branches for the ground floor (day part) and a third for the ground floor (night part). The main entrance to the north gives access to the main living areas. On the first floor are the bedrooms, the bathroom and a dressing room.
Each use has its own orientation: to the north-east, the bedrooms and the library benefit from the low morning light, while to the south-west, the living room, the dining room, the kitchen and the artist's studio benefit from full daylight. This arrangement has also made it possible to create two gardens, one to the north-east and one to the south-west of the building. In addition, the volumes open out at their ends to enhance interaction with the landscape and to offer a play of framing and light. Glass, which is very present, allows maximum use to be made of natural light but also allows the plant environment to become an integral part of the house. Moreover, mindful of these environmental qualities, the land is gradually being planted.
