项目是一个变革性的建筑体量，诠释了对物质性的探索。为了纪念KIST(韩国科学技术研究院)成立50周年，该项目试图解决只用单一材料建造建筑的挑战，以突出科技创新的理念。

KIST Meditation Pavilion is a transformative architecture which interprets a strategic exploration of materiality. Sculpted as a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of KIST (Korea Institute of Science and Technology), the project attempts to tackle the challenge of constructing the building with only a single material that accentuates the very philosophy of innovation in science and technology.

▼设计概念 Concept

与传统的钢筋混凝土不同，UHPC提供了由混凝土和玻璃纤维组合而成的高强度结构支撑。长3.65厘米、宽3.65厘米、高3.65厘米的结构是四块8厘米厚的超高分子量板，上面刻有853个最具影响力的科学发明家的名字。鉴于超高分子量聚乙烯作为材料的易加工性，这些板块是有效的定制和设计。建筑工程的基本研究是如何在雕刻字母的穿孔中仍能支撑起面板，这成为实现预期方法的关键。

Unlike the conventional reinforced concrete, UHPC provides a high strength structural support produced from the combination of concrete and glass fiber. Structured at 3.65cm long by 3.65cm wide by 3.65cm high were four 8cm thick UHPC panels with 853 inscriptions of most influential scientific inventors names. The panels were effectively customed and designed, given the easy workability of UHPC as material. The essential study of architectural engineering upon how the panels could support itself despite the perforations from the carved letters becomes the key to realize the intended approach.

建筑体量朝南，打开了对池塘和周围自然环境的视野。这个空间是一个冥想和沉思的场所，通过光和影的相互作用来捕捉季节的变化。

The mass is allocated Southward, opening up vista towards the iconic Pond and around the natural environment. The space is a venue for healing and contemplation as changes of seasons captured through the interplay of light and shadow.
